Go Listen To Jim Waldo!

And things did work last time!

(Via Charles Ditzel)

Jim Waldo (audio, slides): If you don't have a failure model, what you do have is a failure model that says any failure will be catastrophic.

Jim Waldo is one of the authors of the classic paper: A Note on Distributed Computing.

Re: Go Listen To Jim Waldo!

Links to both audio and slides are broken:-(

Re: Go Listen To Jim Waldo!

Hmm, the jini.org website seems to have been reorganized, and the new events page does contain a link to the talk we mentioned. However the linked to page does not exist in the wiki.

If I remember correctlyy, the main theme of Jim's talk is "Identity over time is a very hard problem." and "SOA can be done better in Jini." Of course.
