The Google Desktop icon surely qualifies as one of those unused icons. I don't recall ever actively using it.

I still mostly use the "locate" command when I try to find a file.

The reason I put icons on my desktop is BECAUSE I don't use the program very often. If I use it, it'll be in the start menu, or I'll put it on the quick-launch bar, or I can type its name in a DOS box. If we all chip in a quarter do you think we can buy the Microsoft UI people a clue....

This is one of the most scary 'features' of M$ Windows. Can we turn it off at all? It keeps pestering me...
