Trouble Burning Fedora Core 3 CDs

OK, I've gotten the Fedora Core 3 ISOs. Burned them onto CDs using my yum-updated Fedora Core 2's Nautilus "right click on the ISO and select Write to CD" method. And they all failed the pre-installation media check:

+-------------------| Media Check Result |---------------------+

The media check of the image:

is complete, and the result is: FAIL.

The image which was just tested has errors. This could
be due to a corrupt download or a bad disk. If
applicable, please clean the disc and try again. If
this test continues to fail you should not continue
   the install.

                         +----+
| | OK | |
                         +----+

+--------------------------------------------------------------+

The ISOs are complete and with valid md5sums. I haven't burned any CDs since I upgraded from FC1 to FC2. I'll ftp the ISOs to my Windows XP machine and try my luck there tomorrow.

Re: Trouble Burning Fedora Core 3 CDs

A handy program for burning ISO images in Windows XP is cdburn.exe from the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools. It's a command line utility to burn an image, optionally blanking a CD-RW while you're at it. I've used it with no problems on Win XP Pro. FYI.

Re: Trouble Burning Fedora Core 3 CDs

In my experience, most of the troubles were caused by older Bios or memory (especially mixing different types of memories). Just changing the memories solved the problem sometimes. Please try.

Re: Trouble Burning Fedora Core 3 CDs

Thanks. I used the CD writing program that came with the machine. And the CDs do check out OK now.

Re: Trouble Burning Fedora Core 3 CDs

I have the same message while I am burning Fedora core 2 and 3 DVDs, but not CDs. Any way to get around. I tried four or five DVD disc, all failed, while md3sums are fine

Re: Trouble Burning Fedora Core 3 CDs

At the boot prompt, try:
linux ide=nodma
This worked for me.
